The work explores the body in relation to industrial imagery, evoking emotions of preconceived gendered roles. The artist moves 85KG of slate, commonly quarried in Scotland, across the gallery floor, disrupting and creating new gestures between the physical body and industrial body. The energetic choreography utilises ritual, repetition, and exhaustion leaving its trace and marks on the gallery floor and canvas clothing that remains post performance as part of the installation. Overall 'Residual Body' demonstrates a negotiation between body, material, space and live score making.
