Installation outcome combining video, performance and photography addressing the conceptual and aesthetic concerns around the female body. It explores perspectives of the female form, expectations and desires through the notion of ‘the spectacle’, paying close attention to the conventions of classical Hollywood, narrative cinema. For this work the artist physically hung by her ankles from a sculptural steel frame whilst performing to camera. Stephanie worked alongside a cinematographer and to capture these physically intense moments whist performing a vocal score for camera, inspired by the male text in the opening scene of Mildred Pierce (1945).
